Steve Martin

Steve is from Merseyside, UK. He completed thirty years’ service as a police officer. During his service, his bravery was recognised by Queen Elizabeth, who presented him with the Queen’s Gallantry Medal at Buckingham Palace. Steve performed uniform and detective duties before becoming part of the canine department as a dog handler; he progressed to dog trainer, designing, and delivering specialist training. Operationally he specialised in counter terrorist search training, firearms operations, and drug detection. Steve’s passion for learning led him to qualifying as a teacher in adult education and workplace assessor. Following his retirement, Steve works as a tour guide at his beloved Liverpool Football Club and he's also undertaken roles with NBC at two Olympic Games.
Steve’s Rotary journey began in 2001, as a Group Study Exchange student. A District Governor in 2018/19, Steve went on to serve four years as Rotary Coordinator (specialist adviser for Membership). He describes his ‘Rotary Moment’ as when he travelled to India on a Polio immunisation trip. Steve also travelled to the Amazon, Brazil as a GSE team leader. In 2024 he sat on the RI membership growth committee and was a Facilitator at International Assembly in 2024 & 2025.
Steve will take his place on the RI board as a director from July 2027.
