Emmanuel Katongole, an entrepreneur, is co-founder and chairman of Quality Chemical Industries Ltd, a leading manufacturer of HIV/AIDS and malaria medicines in Africa that keep close to 2 million people alive.

Emmanuel holds a bachelor's degree in statistics and a master's degree in economic policy and planning from Makerere University. He previously served as first chairman of the Uganda National Oil Company and currently chairs the Advisory Board of TLG Capital Ltd in London, Uganda's Presidential CEO Forum, and serves as Chancellor of Nkumba University.

Emmanuel joined the Rotary Club of Muyenga, Kampala Uganda in 1996 and believes that Rotary is a means of paying back to humanity for what he received.

He spearheaded the Rotary Blood Bank at Mengo Hospital in Kampala, a $1.3 million project that is closing a 27% blood transfusion shortage, helping to reduce deaths.

He serves on the Board of Advisors of Makerere University Rotary Peace Centre and initiated the annual Africa Rotary Peace Concert, which raises funds for The Rotary Foundation. 

Emmanuel chaired the TRF Peace Major Gifts Initiative Committee. He also served as EMGA for English-speaking Africa and as Assistant Rotary Foundation Coordinator after serving as District Governor in 2013-14.

Active in the Roman Catholic Church, he is Trustee of the Uganda Martyrs Mini Basilica, was chairman of the Kampala Archdiocese Foundation and was conferred papal knighthood by Pope Francis in 2021. 

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, swimming, and relaxing at his farm. Emmanuel is a recipient of the African Centennial Rotary Heroes Award. He and his spouse, Resty, support The Rotary Foundation as Benefactors and as members of the Arch Klumph Society and Bequest Society.
