Amanda Watkin
General Secretary
Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland

Amanda Watkin is a senior charity and membership-organisation leader with more than two decades of experience in Rotary. A Rotarian since 2002, she was appointed General Secretary of Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland in 2013 and now leads the organisation’s executive team, supporting tens of thousands of Rotary members across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Working closely with senior volunteer leaders, Amanda has played a central role in modernising Rotary GB&I’s governance, operating model and leadership structures — including the introduction of a new Governing Board, clearer accountability frameworks, and extended leadership terms to ensure continuity and impact. Her work has focused on positioning Rotary as a contemporary, relevant and resilient movement for the 21st century.

A strong advocate for innovation and inclusion, Amanda has led major digital and service-transformation programmes, shaping technology, data and member-experience strategies that strengthen both organisational effectiveness and volunteer engagement. She was also instrumental in the development and launch of Direct Membership, a flexible new pathway designed to broaden access to Rotary and reflect changing patterns of professional and community life.

Alongside her Rotary leadership, Amanda is increasingly engaged in conversations about purposeful leadership, community renewal, and the future of volunteering — themes she continues to explore through her professional journey.

Away from work, Amanda enjoys travel and adventure — always curious, always forward-looking, and never far from her next challenge.
